Hello darkness, my old friend

After a good run, Google + is just about to close its doors. Being a member from the very beginning in 2011, I have made a many friends from around the world, and seen some great things. At the start it was a great place, very different from Facebook. On G+ I met people who had the same interests as me and shared the same ideas, on Facebook, it was people I knew, but had no real connection with. This made G+ a great place. Unfortunately as time went on, the fake accounts began flowing in and it started to get very crowded and hard to filter out the real from the fake without lots of your own time.

So we move on as always when something ends. Of course if you’re reading this you will have found my website which I will be posts most things too, but in this day and age you are nothing without a social media account. I am keeping a few still running but more just to auto repost from this site. The only social site I will be really active in will be MeWe as I think they might have got it right.

I hope you will join me on one of these platforms for a while, and if not…..

[Verse 1]
Hello darkness, my old friend
I’ve come to talk with you again
Because a vision softly creeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence

[Verse 2]
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone
‘Neath the halo of a street lamp
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by
The flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence

[Verse 3]
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence

[Verse 4]
“Fools”, said I, “You do not know
Silence like a cancer grows
Hear my words that I might teach you
Take my arms that I might reach you”
But my words, like silent raindrops fell
And echoed in the wells of silence

[Verse 5]
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made
And the sign flashed out its warning
In the words that it was forming
And the sign said:
“The words of the prophets are
Written on the subway walls
And tenement halls
And whispered in the sound of silence.”
