What I’m Watching For October 2025 Onward

My Media Intake:

Got a large batch of shows lined up this time, 17 in total. A good bunch of new shows and old I’ve wanted to watch and ones I’m seasons deep into. I don’t watch many animation shows but my collection is getting bigger, so thought it would be good to get through a few like Gantz and Rin Daughters of Mnemosyne.

I’m also looking forward to getting back into Foundation, Resident Alien and Snowpiecer. As for new shows it’s a big yes for Alien: Earth and Landman.

Foundation: Season 3

In the far future, most of the known galaxy is despotically ruled by a triumvirate of leaders collectively known as Empire: the “genetic dynasty” of clones of the long-deceased Emperor Cleon, which include Brother Day, a Cleon in his prime; Brother Dusk, a retired and aging Cleon who serves in an advisory role; and Brother Dawn, a young Cleon being trained to succeed Brother Day. Unknown beyond the walls of Empire’s keep is that the dynasty has been surreptitiously administered for 400 years by the regal Lady Demerzel, Empire’s majordomo, secretly a unique, ageless humanoid robot, thought to be the last remnant of an army of robots defeated 6,000 years prior.

Young prodigy Gaal Dornick solves a complex mathematical proof and wins a galaxy-wide contest, devised by famed mathematician and psychology professor Hari Seldon to find another mind capable of understanding his work. Arriving on the capital planet Trantor, Gaal is thrust into the center of a conflict between the Cleonic dynasty and Seldon’s schools surrounding the merits of psychohistory, which was created by Seldon to predict the events and actions of large masses of people across vast timelines. With Gaal to verify his findings, Seldon explains and publicly forecasts the decay and imminent fall of the empire, which cannot be averted, but the consequences of which may be mitigated by the creation of a Foundation to preserve the collective knowledge and innovations of humanity. The Cleons are initially dismissive of Seldon, but following the first of a series of predicted catastrophic events leading to the fall, tentatively allow him and his followers to establish the Foundation in exile on the remote planet Terminus. The series chronicles Empire’s subsequent conflicts with the flowering Foundation and its allies over the course of the passing centuries, the characters and stories that bridge the divide between them, and how the galaxy’s future is imperiled by the one event Seldon’s psychohistory fails to predict.

True Blood: Season 1

The series is set in a fictional universe where vampires have always existed, unbeknownst to the majority of humans until two years before the series premiere, when the creation of synthetic blood (“Tru Blood”) by Japanese scientists, which eliminated vampires’ need for human blood to survive, allowed vampires to “come out of the coffin” and reveal their existence to the world.E-1 This so-called “Great Revelation” has split vampires into two camps: those who wish to integrate into human society (i.e., “mainstream”) by campaigning for citizenship and equal rights,E-1 and those who think human-vampire co-existence is impossible, because it conflicts with the inherently predatory and violent nature of vampires. It has also caused similar divisions amongst non-vampires; some believe that vampires should be accepted and granted rights, while others view them as monsters to be destroyed. Throughout the series, other supernatural creatures are introduced, among them shapeshiftersskinwalkerswerewolveswerepanthersdemonszombiesfaerieswitches, and a maenad.

The series revolves around Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), a telepathic human-faerie hybrid known as a halfling (not to be confused with similarly named, but unrelated creatures found in other fantasy works). Sookie is a waitress at Merlotte’s Bar and Grill, owned by Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) in the small Louisiana town of Bon Temps. Sam is a shapeshifter, though this secret is kept hidden from most of the town. Other characters include Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer), a 173-year-old vampire who has returned to Bon Temps to take up residence in his former home following the death of his last remaining relative; Tara Thornton (Rutina Wesley), Sookie’s tough-talking but insecure best friend; Jason (Ryan Kwanten), Sookie’s womanizing brother; Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård), a 1,000-year-old vampire and Sheriff of Area 5; and Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis), a short order cook, drug dealer, road crew member, and medium.

The show explores several contemporary issues such as the struggle for equal rights, discrimination, and violence against minorities and homosexuals, the problems of drug addiction, the power of faith and religion, the control/influence of the media, the quest for identity, and the importance of family.

The constant motion of the train provides energy and prevents the passengers from freezing as well. Since the catastrophe, the train’s population has become rigidly separated by class, caught up in a revolutionary struggle against the strictly imposed social hierarchy and unbalanced allocation of limited resources. The show explores issues of class warfare, social injustice, and the politics of survival.

Inside No. 9: Season 4

Inside No. 9 is a British black comedy anthology television programme that first aired on 5 February 2014. It is written by Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith and produced by the BBC. Each 30-minute episode is a self-contained story with new characters and a new setting, almost all starring Pemberton or Shearsmith (usually both). Aside from the writers, each episode has a new cast, allowing Inside No. 9 to attract a number of well-known actors. The stories are linked only by the number 9 in some way, typically taking the form of a door marked with the number 9, and a brass hare statue that is in the background of all episodes.[1] Themes and tone vary from episode to episode, but all have elements of comedy and horror or perverse humour, in addition to a plot twist. Pemberton and Shearsmith took inspiration for Inside No. 9 from an episode of Psychoville, a previous project, which was filmed in a single room – this in turn was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope.

Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing: Season 4

The show’s origins lie in Mortimer’s triple heart bypass surgery and Whitehouse, like Mortimer, having had heart problems that were only detected at the last minute. Whitehouse was talking to Mortimer’s wife, Lisa about Bob’s recovery from the operation; he discovered that Mortimer wasn’t going out anymore and so Whitehouse invited him to go fishing with him. Mortimer enjoyed it; describing it later, he said “I’ve never felt anything like it.” “There comes a moment when you realise that you’ve said nothing for an hour and a half. I haven’t thought about anything else. I haven’t worried about the past, or future.” It wasn’t until a later date that Mortimer discovered it had all been a “ruse to get me back into life” that Whitehouse had been conspiring with Lisa. The fishing trips worked and brought Mortimer out of his trough, and then Whitehouse had the idea for the show. They thought there might be the chance to make a humorous and informative programme that was beyond “two old blokes going fishing”. Whitehouse described the pitch for the show as combining the real-life jeopardy of their medical conditions, two old friends who had had a reprieve, and the timeless wonder of the English countryside.
